Enjoy Royal Mughlai Food at The Famous Saleem's of Delhi, now serving in Bandra West (Mumbai)

Mutton Seekh Kebab at Saleem's of Delhi - Bandra West Mumbai

Saleem's of Delhi in Mumbai brings to you an Amazing Royal Mughlai Dining Experience

At the Comfort of your home...

If you are a lover of traditional authentic Indian Mughlai cuisine - mouth melting kebabs, tikkas, nihari, biryani and more then finally! your wait is over. As the famous Saleem's of Delhi have now launched their brand new food delivery kitchen outlet in Mumbai at Pali hill Bandra West.

Though Life in Bandra is amazing and in terms of food we get everything here, but being a bandraite what I have always missed in our locality is good delicious Miya Bhai food like kebabs, khichda, biryani, tikkas, nihari, naan, and other delicious tandoor items. Right now there are just handful of places and restaurants in Bandra which serves decent kebabs, but most of them overdo the Indian spices and nothing yet matches the standard of food you get in few famous restaurants in South Mumbai.
Saleems of Delhi

Over the years the Saleem's restaurant in Delhi is known to serve Indian, Mughlai and Chinese cuisine. Their quality and lip-smacking food make people come back for more and hence their dishes and secret kitchen innovations (recipes) are popular in all over India. Mr. Saleem Qureshi is a restaurateur and founder, who runs a chain of restaurants (Saleem's), apart from Mr. Qureshi from the Saleem's family, we all also know the famous and extremely talented Bollywood brother-sister duo Actress Huma Qureshi and Actor Saqib Saleem. I am extremely happy and excited that now Saleems of Delhi have brought their more than 40 years of experience in Mumbai to satisfy our hunger pangs, serving quality food since 1977.

This outlet in Bandra is a food delivery kitchen. The packaging and branding of the food were really good. The packaging for the nihari could be improved a little more as the oil did spill from the container. The staff was very friendly and service was great as the delivery was before time and the food arrived super hot. Every item looked delicious and the aroma was so heavenly. What I loved about this place is that there was no overuse of any whole garam masalas in any of the dishes, which usually in my view spoils the dish instead of enhancing its flavors.

Now coming to the food this is what I tried:
Chicken Tikka Kebabs at Saleems of Delhi Bandra West Mumbai

1. Chicken Tikka Kebabs: 5*/5
This kebab was very well marinated with lovely fresh Indian spices and the chicken pieces were charcoal grilled, cooked to perfection and it was really soft tender pieces of chicken. You can enjoy this with mint green chili chutney, lime and onions.
Chicken Seekh Kebabs at Saleem's of Delhi - Bandra West Mumbai

2. Chicken Seekh Kebabs: 5*/5

I found this chicken seekh to be one of the best seekh's in Bandra because mostly if you try any chicken seekh in this area, it is rubbery/chewy and not as tender as it is meant to be. This seekh had great flavors of Indian spices and garlic which are put on skewers and charcoal grilled/ BBQ. Highly Recommended!

3. Mutton Seekh Kebabs: 4.5*/5

Again really tender and fine minced meat cooked on a skewer and packed with flavors. Really enjoyed it, I feel some of the masalas can be improved to make it more unbeatable in market competition. Recommended!
Mutton Nalli Nihari at Saleems of Delhi - Bandra West Mumbai

4. Mutton Nalli Nihari: 5*/5
Nalli Nihari is one of the most popular Mughlai dishes which is a gift from the Nawabs, it takes almost 4 to 5 hours to prepare this dish which is a mutton stew cooked on low medium flame. Traditionally nihari was cooked overnight with 50 different variety of spices and served as a breakfast dish to the Mughal kings of Delhi. This Mutton Nalli Nihari from the Saleem's of Delhi was simply outstanding, it had awesome flavor cooked in desi ghee. For people who don't like oily food may have an issue with the nihari but the ones who enjoy eating nihari will definitely love it. Highly Recommended!

Layered Paratha at Saleem's of Delhi Bandra West Mumbai

5. Layered Paratha: 5*/5

Lovely layered wheat soft paratha's.
Phirni at Saleem's of Delhi Bandra West Mumbai

6. Phirni: 4.5*/5

Good delicious plain phirni. It wasn't very sweet.
Sheermal at Saleem's of Delhi Bandra West Mumbai

7. Sheermal: 3.5*/5
Sheermal (which literally means milk rubbed) is a soft, flatbread made in a tandoor which has a subtle sweetness to it. Popularly eaten for morning breakfast with a generous amount of butter. This Sheermal / Shirmal served at the Saleem's tasted delicious but the texture of the bread could be improved. The first time I ate Sheermal was in Kashmir when I was on a short vacation there and I had heard a lot about the Kashmiri bakery items and definitely as compared to my experience of eating Sheermal there, I felt the texture of the bread at Saleem's could be little softer otherwise I really liked the taste.

  1. Mango Chunda or Mango murabba is finely grated pieces of raw mango, in which you add the Indian pickle spices, jaggery or sugar, a little bit of red chili powder and cumin seeds. It had the perfect sweetness and very subtle spicy flavour to it. I loved this achar, it tasted so yummy we finished the entire jar in just 3 days. Highly Recommended!
